“Patients are impressed with the iTero for a few reasons: doesn't cause
any discomfort, doesn't have a bad taste, and is entertaining. There are several
reasons why I like using iTero: easy to use, no distortions and NO CROWN REMAKES!"

"Of all different technology updates we have made over the years, nothing
has awed patients like the iTero. Patients are truly amazed when they see
their digital impressions! More importantly to me, the accuracy is vastly
better than traditional impressions. Fewer adjustments on contacts. Better
marginal fit. I was sold when I had to remake an 8 unit anterior case due
to a distorted full arch traditional PVS impression. My iTero had been
delivered while the case was initially at the lab. The new impressions
were taken with the iTero and the case came back fitting perfectly.
Quadrant impressions are very quick with an iTero. Full arch impressions
take time but much of this can be delegated to an assistant so the "doctor" time
is similar to traditional impressions. Compared to taking two full arch
PVS impressions that take five minutes a piece with the goo dripping down their
throats, patients will opt for the iTero every time! "

"I was an iTero skeptic. Our crown and bridge results were fine. We had few
problems with fit, contacts or occlusion. Why change when things were going great?
But after using iTero, I would not go back! Patients appreciate the high tech
aspect and love seeing the 3-D image of their teeth on the screen. I appreciate
the detailed view of the preps, and the immediate knowledge that the “impression” turned
out well. Others had warned that the scanner was too bulky to use on second and
third molars, but we have found no problems with access. Bites that would distort “triple
tray” impressions become easy with iTero. The analysis of occlusal clearance
and the large scale visualization of the prep, bite and overall relationship
of the teeth have actually improved our technique. Finally, the quality of our
crown and bridge work has improved beyond what it was in the past. It’s
a better way to do crown and bridge, period."

"Patients love the
ease of the iTero's digital impressions and we love the accuracy."

“We are big fans of the iTero and it has really become an integral part
of the practice."

"We started using the iTero digital impression system in January of this
year. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily we were able to integrate
this system into our practice. Patients have been impressed with the technology
and are excited that they are being treated with cutting edge dentistry. The
iTero system has allowed us to offer our patients continued quality in crown
and bridge while eliminating problems like expensive, time consuming
impression retakes with trays and impression materials. I am very pleased
with iTero and am a believer in digital impressions."

“Teaming Itero digital impressions with Ragle Dental
Lab has yielded an unprecedented level of accuracy and quality of the restorations
in my practice.”
“When I take a digital impression with the Cadent Itero, I know that
it’s accurate. When I seat a restoration from Ragle dental lab, I
know that it’s right. This combination gives me the confidence that
my patients are getting the highest quality restorations available.
For me, the Itero has eliminated the errors that may occur with Polyvinyl
Siloxane. I no longer have concern that the material may not have
reached the margin due to blood or improper placement. I don’t have
to worry about the setting of the material or that the patient bit into the tray
improperly. When I take a scan, I know that I have captured the image as
it exists.
I can’t say enough about Itero scans when dealing with
a multi unit case. In
the past, one of the most frustrating things would be pulling an impression on
a 6 unit veneer case only to find that I missed the margin on one of my preps. The
second impression may have porosity on one of the margins, etc. You don’t
miss a margin with the Itero. The scanning process allows you to focus
on each prep individually; then the Itero pieces it all together, yielding an
extremely accurate model.
Other pros to using the Itero scanner include:
- Better comfort for the patient vs. polyvinyl impressions. Most patients
report that a scan is less invasive than impression material. (although
I am looking forward to the development of a smaller head)
- The scanned image is an excellent tool for patient education. I like
to show patients their preps and explain why we had to do a crown or show them
where the cavity was, etc. I feel that this gives patients a better understanding
of the reasons why a crown was necessary and in many cases makes them feel good
about the decision they made to improve their oral health.
- The occlusal clearance indicator allows me to reprep if I need to gain
more space; or, if I do not want to adjust the prep and rescan, I can simply
write a note to Ragle lab telling them I want a reduction coping, a metal island,
etc. It is so much easier to relay this to the lab at this point when I
am looking at the image versus a day or two later from memory.
- I can evaluate the die from my computer prior to processing. Should
there be a major error or other complication we can halt the production.
I am excited for the potential that the Itero Scanner gives my practice to
continue to move in the direction with technology toward providing high quality
care in fewer steps with less time and discomfort to the patient. It is
realistic to believe that in the future, I will be able to use my Itero for implant
impressions, denture impressions and shade matching. I also foresee that
many of my restorations will be fabricated without a model, hence reducing delivery
time.”
Wishing you success,
